The first people born in 1962 will be receiving an invitation for a COVID-19 vaccination this week. This group involves people who will be turning 59 this year. They can already schedule an appointment online via www.coronavaccinatie-afspraak.nl for vaccination by the Municipal Public Health Services (GGDs). They will receive the Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna vaccine. This involves about 250,000 people. The first people aged 18 to 59 years old who have a medical indication will also receive an invitation this week.
It is possible that some people in this group will receive two invitations. For example, they could be invited now based on the year when they were born, but may sometimes already have been invited via a different route, for example because they work in healthcare. People who have already been vaccinated can disregard the second invitation they receive. By now, the GGDs have opened more than 100 vaccination sites where people can go to get vaccinated.
People aged 18 to 60 years old who have a medical indication
People with a medical indication, who have an additional risk of becoming ill due to COVID-19, will be invited for vaccination by the GGD starting this week. This involves people under 60 who are invited every year to get the seasonal flu jab. GPs will be selecting who to invite. They will receive the Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna vaccine.
Schedule for the vaccination campaign
The Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) determines the order in which groups are vaccinated. The advisory reports of the Health Council of the Netherlands are used as guidance. The start date for vaccination of the various target groups depends on vaccine availability. For the latest order of vaccination, please visit Government.nl.
