The Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) is to provide high quality training courses for the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
EFSA has recognised a need for training of its Networks, Panel and Scientific Committee members and scientific staff to facilitate their understanding, uptake and use of the best risk assessment practices developed by EFSA. In addition, there is a need to strengthen the cross-fertilisation of scientific discussion and support harmonisation between the different scientific domains in EFSA. The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) is to provide high quality training courses to meet the needs for BenchMark Dose (BMD) modelling and computational toxicology as identified by EFSA.
The training coordinator and tutors will make available their massive experience in organising training courses in risk assessment, their unique expertise in the topics of the training courses and their extensive knowledge of the EFSA risk assessment practice.
All courses are given at EFSA in Parma, Italy
Logistical arrangements for traveling and accommodation will be organised by EFSA.
The two main tutors Wout Slob (BMD modelling) and Emile Rorije (computational toxicology) will be responsible for the content of the training. The main tutors will get support from other RIVM specialists such as Bas Bokkers and Jeannette Gomez-Contreras.
Jacob van Klaveren will be the training coordinator from RIVM and he will be responsible for the contractual matters and the organisation of the training according to EFSA requirements.
