English Abstract In the recent Dutch spatial planning policy, much
attention is given to the problems associated with the spatial pressure
generated by different -still expanding- types of land use. One of the
problems is the increasing amount of space claimed by business parcs,
leading to a further dispersion of the limited amount of open space in the
Netherlands. In this investigation the growth rates of the business areas
are estimated and compared for different spatial units, in relation to the
driving forces behind these developments. For this research the spatial
analytical capabilities of a geographical information system (GIS) was used
to analyse the different detailed digital land use maps of the Dutch
statistical agency (CBS). It appears that the fastest growth rates of
business areas are found in the direct surroundings of nodes of
infrastructure. In the future period till 2005 however, it seems that the
accent of growth is shifting to the total zone of the city-edges. Finally
the results of this research were used to test and further improve the land
use simulation model 'Land-Use Scanner'.
geselecteerde (ruimtelijke) drijvende factoren.
aanbevelingen gegeven.
